Д.А. Попов внёс значительный вклад в математические основы рентгеновской, ультразвуковой и акустической томографии, теорию оценок осциллирующих интегралов, в задачи, связанные с распределением целых точек в круге на плоскостии в телах вращения. Особое место в очерке отводится недавним результатам юбиляра по проблемам связи спектра оператора Лапласа на фундаментальной области модулярной группы с распределением простых чисел.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The present essay tells about the life and the scientific creativity of the brilliant Russianmathematician Dmitry Aleksandrovich Popov, who has celebrated his 80th anniversary inAugust, 2019. D.A. Popov made a considerable contribution to the mathematical foundationsof the X-ray, ultrasonic and acoustic tomography, to the theory of the oscillating integralsestimations and to the problems concerning the distribution of lattice points in the plain circleand in the bodies of rotation.
